The madness of a thousand men
Blinded by hatred and colour bent
Seeking purity awaiting when
The wooden cross shall burn again
Mama I saw a ghost
Round the corner standing with its torch blazing

Nowhere to run I've tried waking up from this dream
Dancing on a noose was its present all wrapped in red
Make sure it doesn't get loose turn it upside down instead
Smell of wood burning black, till morning rise ashes hot
Hundred little pointed hats, celebrating they just start

Not far away sadness weeps
Waking from its nightmare deep
As day by day it tries to leap
Hunted by the ghosts of sleep
Morning comes and now the sky is clear
The scent of burning and cooking is in the air
The ghosts have now all gone to bed
Awaiting the burning cross when next to be fed
